  • Textural Layering, Shifting Lines, and Depth Reversal | Michelle Rial | May 16-20

    $750.00

In this 5-day intensive course, students will learn color theory, using negative spaces, 3 styles of techniques (layering, compression shifting, and deep reversals) for kilnwork imagery.

Class is Wednesday May 16th through Sunday May 20th. Class each day is from 10am to 6pm. There will be a lunch break around 1pm daily. We also offer a lunch plan for only $10 a day where our staff will deliver food that you choose from various local area restaurants.

This class is open to all levels of experience, however some fusing experience is helpful. Not sure or have questions? Contact us at hello@glassaxis.org or call 614-291-4250.

Payment plans available.  Go to our deposit page at https://glassaxis.org/deposit and make a deposit for at least $200.00.  Make sure you specify in the note section which class.  Workshop must be paid in full 30 days prior to class starting.

    Techniques:
    1. We will discuss the theory of transparency, opaqueness, and colors as it relates to fusing glass artworks.
    2. These ideas will be incorporated first in the creation of an artwork using a multi-layered textural technique with frits, powders, glass line work, and fiber negative spaces.
    3. The same design will be used with another technique adding stacks of small clear and colored squares on top of base layers, chips, powders, and line work. During the firing the pressure will form shifts in design and depth.
    4. We will discuss a reversal technique using thick fiber paper/blankets and create the same design if time permits.
