Join us for Mardi Gras this year at Glass Axis’s Glassquerade featuring glassblowing furnaces raging over 2000F. Celebrate Mardi Gras in style wearing your favorite mask for the 6th year of this masquerade event fundraiser. Glassquerade will take place on Friday, March 1st from 7pm-11pm at Glass Axis. This year, admission includes all food and drink tastings from local Columbus favorites. Plus watch glassblowing or even try it in our glass voodoo making classes!
There will be local winery and breweries set up throughout Glass Axis’s studios for guests to sample. This year’s drink vendors include: Brothers Drake Meadery, Camelot Cellars, Plum Run Winery, Three Oaks Vineyard, Wolfs Ridge Brewery, Grove City Brewing, Brew Dog Brewing, Platform Brewing, Land Grant Brewing. And what better way to enjoy your tastings than out of a handblown glass tumblers made right here at Glass Axis by local Columbus glass artists!
Then enjoy the taste of Mardi Gras with the best creole you can find outside of Louisiana from Creole 2 Geaux. This year she’ll be bringing back favorites like shrimp and grits, jambalaya, and of course her creole bowls! Plus enjoy new bites including pretzels with voodoo dip, jerk flavored popcorn, fried okra, and more!
Besides enjoying local drinks and eats, guests will have the opportunity to watch and even make glass themselves. All evening Columbus glass artists will be demonstrating their glassblowing skills in our hot shop for partygoers to enjoy. You can even request and purchase custom pieces to be made right before your eyes! If you want to try glassmaking for yourself, we will have glass voodoo doll classes. In the class, you will create two glass voodoo dolls one for you to keep and one to give away, or, each you and your date can make a doll, complete with a pin sticking through it.
We are also excited to have the 2018 Miss Buckeye Comedy Queen 1st Runner-Up Mistress Goldie keeping the life in the party as the evening’s MC. So join us for a night of glassblowing, eating, and drinking to celebrate Mardi Gras and support Glass Axis a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that spreads glass art, history, & science throughout our local community.
