Call for Gallery Exhibitions for 2018
Hello Glass Artists!
The Kennedy Galleries at Glass Axis is currently accepting applications for gallery exhibitions for 2018.
Glass Axis, is a non-profit public glass art studio in Columbus, OH. We have been at the heart of the glassmaking in central Ohio since 1987 and recently moved to a new 12,700 sq. foot building in the Franklinton Arts District, just west of downtown Columbus. The Kennedy Galleries is a 417 square foot space.
Glass Axis seeks to highlight artists who work with glass either as a primary or supplemental medium. Any method of working with glass is acceptable- blowing, casting, torch, neon, enamelling, engraving, etc. We are seeking proposals for 6 week exhibitions in our space. Artists may be emerging or professional, solo or group shows. Typically our space can hold about 10 works or groups of art. We recommend bringing a variety of works and sizes with one or two showcase pieces and several smaller more affordable options. With each show, we host an opening during our local gallery hop on the second Friday of each month. During this opening there is an opportunity for an artist talk to engage with the public, and explain your work and processes.
There may also be opportunities to perform a demonstration of your process or teach a one to three day class.
To apply we need:
- A written description of the intent of your exhibition, names of all participating artists, images of work to be included, and any supplemental material necessary.
- Three to five images of your work.
- Your preferred dates to participate. We typically start the exhibitions on odd numbered months.
All work exhibited in the Kennedy Galleries will be for sale on commission with 60% to the artist.
If chosen to participate, additional advertising information will be required at least 10 weeks prior to opening of show. We advertise our openings on our website, social media, to local universities including The Ohio State University and Columbus College of Art and Design, and through Columbus’s media outlets.
