Our free glassblowing demonstration this month will take place on Friday April 10th during Franklinton Fridays. Our featured Glassblower this month is Eric Hernandez.
Artist and designer Eric Hernandez was born in 1990 and raised in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hernandez loved using his hands from a young age, and was accepted into a Charter High School for Architecture and Design where he was exposed to many mediums. While enrolled, he happened upon a glass studio and decided to take a class. Hernandez went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art as a glass major in 2012. Hernandez received multiple awards including the Viktor Schrekengost award for excellence in glass. Shorty after graduation, Eric had his first solo show at the Galleria Quetzal in Cleveland, OH and then traveled to Pilchuck Glass School where he studied Glass Sculpture with the De Las Torre Brothers. Upon graduation, Eric was accepted into the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio Assistantship Program. In this position, he helps educate the community through public classes and demonstrations and has focused on refining his own studio practice. Eric Hernandez is the current artist in resident at The Works Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology.
